Hannah Dutton
Sad news indeed (from From YT@Beaconsfield's facebook):
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Hannah
Dutton passed away last month, shortly after losing her mother. Hannah
was, undoubtedly, a very special person who made a huge impact during
her time with the group.
“She was a very talented actress, who never
seemed to quite believe how good she was. Whilst no slouch at the more
serious roles - it was as a comedienne that she excelled. Her
performances in Cinderella, Aladdin and Snow White had a maturity which
belied her years. Her principal boy role, Aladdin, has yet to be
matched.
“She was always supportive of those around her, and never had a
bad word to say about anyone. Whatever role she took with the group, she
committed every fibre of her being to it.
“In so many ways Hannah was the
living embodiment of what makes The Young Theatre such a special place
and we know that all past members who were fortunate to be touched by
such a beautiful, caring person will be deeply saddened by the news.
“Our
thoughts go out to her family, in particular her sister Jessie (another
ex-member). To lose two such special people in such a short space of
time is unimaginable for most of us. Jessie, we send you and your family
our love at this time.
“Hannah's funeral is on 22nd September at 2pm at
Amersham Crematorium.”

Elton, Ultimately in India
Elton John's mum's favourite Elton John tribute act AKA Paul Bacon has moved on quite a bit since he went topless with a page three model (see Letter from Leona, below). From appearing at YT for a bit of fun way back when, to a Tour of India in 2017. After winning the National Tribute Awards in 2016 Ultimate Elton and the Rocket Band spent mid-April in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Letter from Leona
Leona Graham ("The UK's top radio voice") kindly sent in some old YT memorabilia from 1986/7 when we knew her as Leona Smith. Who can ever forget Paul Bacon going topless with a page three model whilst trying to complete so many difficult tasks with Claire White?! There's also issue two of the Young Theatre's newsletter Prompt and one of those publications best describled as a satirical unofficial newsletter Blab II. The adjacent Drama Workshop poster was designed by Leona. 30p admission including refreshments. What a bargain!

Jerusalem
It's always great to see current and ex-members of Young Theatre performing under the Beaconsfield Theatre Group banner. If you can work out who they are, of course. This and more photos from Jerusalem taken by Helen Sendall are in BTG's Gallery.

South West London Television
Thanks to South West London Television's marketing campaign, we found out about how Peter Fison’s TV production ambitions have progressed since we last heard from him in November 2006. You can see from the SWL.TV YouTube Channel how he and they provide online content for South West London.
Tennis fans, even outside London, will be interested in their behind-the-scenes access to Wimbledon AELTC.

Flash Ah-Ah
When Cameron Gower Poole posted this photo on Facebook and said “Back at The Roundhouse last night with The Trevor Horne band. Sharing the stage with guests Ronnie Wood, Imelda May, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Matt Cardle” it was obviously time we talked about the Flash advert. It's his queen of earworms.
Ah, well. At least we all now know what a Labradoodle looks like and what it sings like apparently... ;-)
A few days later Cameron posted “More bangers from the CGP hit factory. ‘Dreamer’, ‘ILY2’ and ‘Drugs’ recorded in part @sarmstudios #studiolife #number1angel #charlixcx” so it's not all jammin’ with Ronnie Wood [still jealous - ed.].

Chris Hobbs
A Blast from the Past! IRW has managed to re-establish contact with one Christopher Hobbs who was a member of onstage incorporated, a very early incarnation of what was to follow much later as Not So Young Theatre and more recently Shared Intent. Chris was the Musical Director for YT North Harrow‘s productions of Toad of Toad Hall in 1967 and Alice in Wonderland in 1968.
For Toad, Chris gave the music of H. Fraser-Simson a new orchestration and also managed to recruit a number of his fellow students at the Royal Academy of Music, and persuaded them to come out to North Harrow to record all the music for the show in one four hour session in the church hall. It was a somewhat chaotic session technically, but ultimately pretty successful considering the incredible difficulties that these budding musicians were required to operate under(!). As the local paper put it - “and it meant that some of them were able to sit in the audience and listen to themselves accompanying the songs!” The following year he was again involved, writing the music used for IRW‘s final production at North Harrow of Alice in Wonderland.
Chris says — “I’m glad the group is still going after all these years. I like the website and look forward to the amendments. If you go to my website www.experimentalmusic.co.uk you‘ll get an idea of me in 1968! My hair is shorter these days…!!” Photo: Leicester University: 2005

Peter Pan Goes Wrong
You may not have noticed this on TV on New Year's Eve. Mischief Theatre and Henry Lewis' 'theatre goes wrong' was tweaked for the small screen; with David Suchet on board. His presence was explained to The Stage: the BBC would only book them with a big name!
