In 1990 Circle of Seasons was entered into the Lloyds Bank Young Theatre Challenge
The overall winners were The Young Theatre (at Beaconsfield) with A Circle of Seasons which was awarded The Burnham Trophy.
An additional trophy, The Young Theatre Festival Cup, presented by The Young Theatre’s Group Director, Mark Britton, was also awarded to the overall winners of this first “open” Burnham Trophy
competition involving five outside groups. However, as there was no Burnham Trophy competition in the following season, it was agreed by Mark that this Cup should in future be awarded to an individual, or group,
for the most significant theatrical achievement of the season - and it was renamed The Young Theatre Cup for Theatrical Achievement. Subsequently, from 1997 onwards, this was presented annually
in memory of Michael Wiseman.
