Toad of Toad Hall : January 1979

What the Press said ...

A happy blend in fine work

This joint production of a senior club, Proscenium, and the thriving Young Theatre proved to be a veritable "mammoth" show, with excellent integration of smooth, inspired work, both musically and dramatically.
Directed by paul Moran and Colin Tufnell, there was a happy blending of all aspects ... well-balanced musical direction was by Peter Ramsey ...
As the vain Toad..Colin Hickson was superb with his passion for motors... As Mr.Badger, David Goldman managed all situations firmly with that unexpected Gaelic touch of a Dr. Cameron. As Ratty, Paul Davis was exactly right, whilst Jacquie Russell as Mole offered a blend of joy and endeavour in life. A minor triumph.
Alfred the Donkey (sic?) and the Bargehorse were fun.. William McCoy was elegant as the judge supported by Matthew Edwards as a vociferous usher and Peter Barker as an expansive Policeman. the nigh revolution seemed well-rehearsed in frenzy, fun and song ... the final scene at the impressive Toad Hall was spendidly led by John Gobey as Chief Weasel. .... the various rabbits, ferrets, field mice, stoats weasels etc. were delightful ...
Everyone in the show can be proud of what they put into it and the fun they got out of it.
