The Wiz

This musical was presented by The Young Theatre Workshop — in essence an extended, expanded offshoot of The Young Theatre (at Beaconsfield) — at The Curzon Centre, Beaconsfield on 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th July 1985 as Young Theatre's contribution to International Youth Year, a time during which young people were encouraged to take part in community activities.

Directed by Mark Britton, with Musical Director Chris Gater, the production had a cast of 80, a technical group of 40 plus 18 assorted musicians and choir. In sheer numbers alone The Wiz probably constituted one of the largest shows to be put on at the Curzon Centre, which explains the reason for introducing the Workshop concept!
