The Young Theatre (at Beaconsfield) (YT) was founded in 1970 by Ian R Wallace and Aviva Wiseman.

 

It meets nearly every Sunday between 2pm and 5.30pm at The Curzon Centre, Beaconsfield.

 

Membership is open to those aged 10 and above who have an interest in theatre production, whether as actor or technician. In addition to filling those roles the membership run the group. They form an executive committee who manage and run the day-to-day operations of a performing arts company; from marketing to finances. The Group Director, who must be over 18, chairs this committee. The only “adult” involvement is the Artistic Director and General Manager who must both be over 21.

 

The group currently mounts two main productions a year, one in February half term and one in the summer. In addition YT regularly enters the local and national one act play competitions (in 2004 it won the All British One Act Play Festival, the first youth group ever to do so) and puts on a fund raising evening, usually in October.
