Membership is open to those aged 10 and above who have an interest in theatre production,
whether as actor or technician. In addition to filling those roles the membership
run the group. They form an executive committee who manage and run the day-to-day
operations of a performing arts company; from marketing to finances. The Group Director,
who must be over 18, chairs this committee. The only “adult” involvement is the Artistic
Director and General Manager who must both be over 21.
The group currently mounts two main productions a year, one in February half term
and one in the summer. In addition YT regularly enters the local and national one
act play competitions (in 2004 it won the All British One Act Play Festival, the
first youth group ever to do so) and puts on a fund raising evening, usually in October.
The aims of the group are:
To stimulate an interest in the theatre amongst young people
To encourage and develop that interest by providing as many facilities as possible
for a practical training and active participation in a wide range of theatrical activities
To establish and maintain, by united effort, a high standard of performance and presentation
in all group productions
